Tom Bonnell Legacy at Savannah Country Day School
Monday, January 25th, 2010Tom Bonnell has nearly thirty years of experience in teaching and managing educational institutions. Tom spent five of those years as the Head of School at Savannah Country Day School. His vast experience and his passion for education have made a profound impact on Savannah Country Day School during his tenure.
A lot of changes happened during Tom Bonnell’s term as Head of School at Savannah Day School. Mr Bonnell played an instrumental role in the construction and completion of two new buildings at the school. Tom led a major capital campaign that successfully raised $10 million for the school and went towards the construction of a new 56,000 sq. ft. Lower School building. Mr Bonnell also oversaw the construction and completion of a new 36,000 sq. ft. Middle School building.
Aside from these major achievements, Tom Bonnell also had many contributions towards the advancement of the academic program of Savannah Country Day School. Tom developed a Long Range Plan for the school that was adopted by the School’s board in 2007. Mr Bonnell also developed a collaborative faculty culture that focused on curricular coordination and research-based best practice. All these contributions have made the Savannah Country Day School a better educational institution and have had a profound effect on the school.
